The Alberta crown-owned lender's wealth arm expands its high-net-worth advisory bench
ATB Wealth has appointed three investment counsellors to its Private Investment Counsel team in Alberta: Gavin Mahabir, David Lee, and Brett Phare.
Mahabir, a certified financial planner (CFP) who also holds the chartered investment manager (CIM) designation, brings more than 11 years of wealth management experience, per the release.
He is based at ATB's Eighth Avenue Place office in Calgary.
Lee, a CFA charterholder and CFP, has been with ATB Investment Management since 2018 and works with high-net-worth families out of Edmonton.
The release credits him with experience in portfolio analysis, research, and product solutions.
Phare, who holds the CFP, CIM, FMA, and FCSI designations, brings more than 25 years of industry experience and works with business owners, corporate executives, professionals, and multi-generational families.
Mahabir LinkedIn profile shows he spent nearly 11 years at Mawer Investment Management in Calgary before joining ATB Wealth in May. He was an investment counsellor at Mawer from December 2020 to July 2025.
Lee's LinkedIn profile records eight and a half years at ATB Wealth, starting with a compliance internship in May 2018 and moving through investment compliance analyst, investor relations manager, and associate investment counsellor roles before his promotion to investment counsellor in November 2025.
He was at TD from March 2015 to March 2018.
Phare joined ATB Wealth in June from RBC PH&N Investment Counsel, where he had worked for 10 months from September 2025, his LinkedIn profile shows.
Before that he spent six years at CWB Wealth Management in Alberta, latterly as market lead and senior private wealth specialist, and 19 years at Bank of Montreal and BMO Private Banking in Edmonton from May 2000.
