Chris Arthur shares the client-first mindset behind his award-winning advisory model

How this award-winning 5-Star Advisor protects clients in a volatile market

Wealth Professional recently caught up with Chris Arthur, Head of Financial Planning at Dunbrook Associates and a newly named 5-Star Advisor in WP’s annual awards. In a year defined by market turbulence, Arthur has stayed ahead by tailoring strategies to his clients' unique life stages—and by leaning into defense when it mattered most.

“2025 has been a year where we're talking to our clients a lot more, producing a lot of communications along the way,” said Arthur. “For our clients approaching retirement, preservation of capital and smoothing out the ride was really important.”

That communication-first philosophy runs deep at Dunbrook. Instead of taking on thousands of clients, Arthur’s team prioritizes deeper relationships and a more proactive model. “If we just waited for clients to call us, we’d miss so much. Being systematic about outreach lets us uncover what really matters to them—like a home purchase we didn’t know was coming.”

Arthur’s early days door-knocking with Edward Jones shaped his transparent, client-first mindset. “I’m not afraid to tell someone if I think a financial decision might hurt them long-term. That confidence helps us act only in their best interest.”

As for technology, Arthur’s team has begun integrating AI tools—not for trading, but for streamlining internal operations. “AI helps with meeting recaps, to-do lists, and keeping our staff organized. But when it comes to investing decisions, we want to see a proof of concept first.”

Looking ahead, Arthur is focused on building out a full-service advisory experience. That includes expanding the firm’s team with high-quality advisors and creating a trusted referral network for accounting, legal, and mortgage services. “We want to be the first call our clients make—no matter what their financial question is.”

“It’s all about knowing your clients, segmenting their goals, and asking the right questions,” said Arthur. “That’s how you deliver long-term success—by really understanding the person behind the portfolio.”
